This is a newly created role within JD Europe's International Compliance Department. Reporting to the Director of Regulation and Compliance, you will lead the development and governance of regulatory and compliance policies across our retail businesses in the UK and EU. You will work across Compliance, Legal and the business to translate regulatory requirements and emerging risks into clear, practical policies, standards and decision frameworks that can be applied consistently across markets.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain regulatory and compliance policies across our 1P retail and 3P marketplace businesses
- Translate legal and regulatory requirements into clear, practical policies, standards and decision frameworks
- Establish policy governance, including ownership, approvals, review cycles, version control and change management
- Lead policy development across areas including product compliance and safety, marketplace and seller compliance, consumer protection, content and advertising, IP, and other regulatory risks
- Work with subject-matter experts to ensure policies reflect regulatory requirements and operational realities
- Identify policy gaps arising from regulatory developments, incidents, operational experience and emerging risks
- Drive consistent policy application across countries, business models and functions
- Work with Product and Engineering to translate policies into platform rules, controls and workflows where required
- Maintain clear records of material policy decisions, approvals and changes
- Develop policy guidance and training for teams across the business
What we're looking for
- Significant experience in regulatory/compliance policy, policy governance or a related role within e-commerce, retail, technology or another regulated environment
- Experience developing and owning policies across multiple regulatory or compliance areas
- Strong understanding of European regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to retail and online marketplaces
- Experience translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, workable business policies
- Strong policy governance, change management and implementation experience
- Excellent judgment and ability to work across complex or novel regulatory issues
- Comfortable working with Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering and operational teams and influencing senior stakeholders
- Experience within a large-scale online marketplace, e-commerce or retail business strongly preferred
- Strong written and spoken English; Mandarin or another European language would be an advantage
