As the business scales, this role supports how JD manages regulatory risk and builds a resilient compliance function across Europe.
What you'll do
- Support the Director of Regulation and Compliance across multiple disciplines.

- Provide day-to-day regulatory advice on e-commerce operations, including pricing, promotions, and consumer rights.
- Support regulatory responses, enforcement matters, and regulator engagement across EU and UK markets, with the opportunity to take ownership of defined matters.
- Support the regulatory and compliance workstreams underpinning retail, marketplace and third-party seller activity.
- Maintain the trackers and horizon-scanning that keep a fast-moving function on top of its obligations.
- Manage IP and brand protection matters from a compliance perspective, including selective distribution, trademark and copyright issues.
- Advise on data protection and GDPR compliance across the business, building practical controls into platform and operational processes.
- Support implementation of emerging digital and AI regulation and developments in EU and UK consumer law.
- Support on ESG and sustainability matters.
- Support on trade and customs compliance across the business.
What we're looking for
- A qualified solicitor or lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent EU jurisdiction; dual qualification an advantage), with 3–6 years' post-qualification experience.
- Fluency in a second EU language, Spanish or Portuguese a strong advantage, with German, French, or Dutch also highly valued.
- A background combining contentious or regulatory work at a recognised law firm - disputes, litigation, commercial, or regulatory - with in-house experience at a scaled e-commerce, marketplace, retail, or consumer-facing business.
- Experience across regulatory enforcement, product compliance, IP/brand protection, and consumer law matters; exposure to data protection and emerging AI or digital regulation a strong advantage.
- A practical, action-oriented operator who is highly organised and able to bring structure to a fast-moving environment.
- A confident communicator, comfortable partnering directly with the business and seeing matters through to resolution.
- Resilient under pressure, comfortable dealing with external counsel, opposing parties, regulators, and senior internal stakeholders.
- Agile and sector-curious - able to get up to speed quickly across a broad remit and instruct external counsel effectively where specialist depth is required.
- Comfortable working in an environment where processes and frameworks are still developing.
