What You’ll Do

  • Compliance Strategy & Leadership (Europe)
    • Define and own the European compliance and product safety strategy across our food and non-food e-commerce operations, aligned to business objectives, growth priorities and risk appetite across current and future markets.
    • Build and scale the European compliance operating model, organisational capabilities, governance structures and mechanisms needed to support sustainable growth while maintaining high standards of customer trust and regulatory compliance.
    • Act as the senior compliance leader for Europe and a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, partnering closely with Legal.
  • Leading the European Compliance Team
    • Lead and develop a network of country Compliance Business Partners across the EU/UK countries of operation and the core compliance team, ensuring consistent compliance standards while reflecting local regulatory requirements in each market.
    • Build specialist capability, where needed and set the standards, playbooks and mechanisms.
    • Set clear accountabilities across the central team and country BP network, building leadership capability and a culture of ownership and accountability.
    • Support the trade compliance specialists for European operations — covering customs and classification, sanctions screening working in close interface with the JDL logistics.
    • Support JDL for the storage, handling and movement of dangerous goods, ensuring warehousing, fulfilment and transport activities meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements across our markets.
  • Enterprise Risk, Governance & Business Partnership
    • Lead the European compliance risk framework, ensuring effective identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring of regulatory, operational and customer risks across the business.
    • Partner with senior leaders across Product, Commercial, Operations, Legal, Public Policy, Tax and Technology to embed compliance and product safety considerations into strategic initiatives.
  • Specialist & Market-Specific Compliance
    • Support our specialists establish the compliance framework for Joybuy’s newly established pharmacy business in the Netherlands.
    • Build the specialist compliance capability needed for higher-risk and regulated product categories, ensuring each market has the right controls, approvals and oversight in place.

About You

  • 10+ years of experience in food and/or non-food product compliance, product safety and risk management within complex, fast-paced environments, with demonstrated success navigating evolving requirements, changing business priorities and high levels of ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-country or multi-market compliance teams, including managing distributed Business Partners and building a strong central function from a single hub.
  • Strong working knowledge of trade compliance (customs, classification, sanctions, restricted goods) and of dangerous-goods storage and handling requirements in a retail, logistics or e-commerce setting.
  • Familiarity with regulated product categories — ideally including pharmacy or healthcare.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and driving alignment across Product, Legal, Public Policy, Tax, Operations, Commercial and Technology teams to solve complex regulatory challenges while balancing customer experience, compliance obligations and business objectives — and a clear sense of where Compliance ends and Legal begins.
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying systemic risks, driving root-cause resolution and creating durable, scalable solutions that support growth across multiple products, markets or regions.
  • Strong strategic, analytical and executive communication skills, with experience shaping business decisions, anticipating emerging regulatory risks and leading compliance capabilities that enable sustainable business expansion and customer trust.
