As part of our growing European operation, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Delivery & Distribution Planner to optimize the movement of bulky goods like furniture, large appliances, and electronics.

Position Overview

As a Delivery & Distribution Planner, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the daily dispatch of customer orders across the Netherlands and surrounding regions. This role focuses on scheduling efficient and cost-effective delivery routes, ensuring service-level agreements (SLAs) are met, and supporting the smooth distribution of large-format items.

You’ll work closely with warehouse operations, third-party carriers, and in-house delivery teams to ensure timely, accurate, and customer-friendly delivery execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Route Planning: Create and optimize daily delivery routes for bulky items based on order volume, geography, and resource availability
  • Schedule Coordination: Align delivery appointments with customer availability and service constraints (e.g., 2-person delivery, installation slots)
  • Carrier & Driver Coordination: Assign deliveries to internal and external transport partners and ensure all instructions are communicated clearly
  • Load Planning: Optimize truckloads to maximize vehicle utilization while respecting size/weight constraints and delivery priorities
  • System Management: Use TMS and WMS to track delivery status, assign routes, and update real-time changes
  • Exception Handling: Monitor delivery progress, resolve disruptions (e.g., failed deliveries, delays), and communicate proactively with customer service teams
  • Performance Monitoring: Track KPIs such as on-time delivery rate, failed delivery ratio, and average delivery cost
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and collaborate with warehouse and transport teams to improve planning accuracy and delivery speed

Key Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience in transport, logistics planning, or distribution scheduling (bulky item or white-glove delivery is a strong plus)
  • Solid understanding of route optimization and fleet scheduling principles
  • Experience with TMS/WMS tools (e.g., Transwide, SAP TM, ORTEC, Manhattan, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills in English;
  • Familiarity with last-mile delivery challenges, especially for large/fragile products
