You’ll be joining the JINGDONG Logistics team, which values collaboration, ownership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Working Pattern: On-site role; shift flexibility may be required.

Role Purpose: The Transport Manager is responsible for managing a compliant and safe transport operation across the network in line with DVSA guidelines, traffic regulations, driver hours/tachograph rules and the health and safety directive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • National and International CPC holder
  • Managing a mixed fleet of HGV & LGVs and drivers
  • Liaising with the on-site warehouse management and sortation teams to ensure timely and safe despatch of all vehicles
  • Offering operational support to manage relationships with local DSPs
  • Work alongside the driver trainers to provide training, behavioural improvements, safe driving practices, and fuel efficiency
  • Liaise with the planning teams regarding transport planning, scheduling, and delivery performance
  • Lead continuous improvement for the on-site operation
  • React effectively to operational changes, including customer requirements, traffic issues, vehicle breakdowns, and driver availability, ensuring minimal disruption to service
  • Work closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and operational management to ensure routes are achievable, compliant, and aligned with business needs
  • Ensure all planned routes comply with driver hours regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, and Operator Licence obligations
  • Support the day-to-day management of the transport operation to ensure deliveries are completed safely, legally, and on time
  • Maintain accurate transport and route planning records, including scheduling data, driver allocation, and compliance documentation
  • Lead, manage, and supervise drivers and transport staff, including performance management and disciplinary matters where required
  • Monitor driver performance and conduct regular briefings to ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements
  • Oversee fleet maintenance, ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy, regularly inspected, and defects are reported and resolved promptly
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including tachograph data, driver hours, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation
  • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, near misses, and compliance breaches, implementing appropriate corrective actions
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure readiness for audits and inspections

Key Requirements:

  • National and International CPC holder
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transport operations, logistics dispatch, fleet operations, parcel delivery, e-commerce logistics, 3PL, or distribution centre transport management.
  • Minimum 2 years of people management or team supervision experience in a transport, warehouse, logistics, or operational environment.
  • Good understanding of UK transport operations and basic compliance requirements, including driver hours, tachograph rules, Working Time Directive, vehicle safety, and overloading risks.
  • Experience working with HGV, LGV, van fleets, DSPs, subcontractors, agency drivers, or third-party transport partners is preferred.
  • Experience in e-commerce, parcel delivery, last-mile, middle-mile, or high-volume transport operations is preferred.
  • Strong on-site coordination, decision-making, communication, problem-solving, and KPI management skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with TMS, WMS, routing systems, fleet management systems, or telematics platforms is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Candidates with strong relevant transport operations experience may also be considered without a degree.
