Head of Risk and Compliance (SMF) β International Bank β London
Permanent | Competitive Package
We are recruiting on behalf of a small international bank in London for a Head of Risk and Compliance to lead their UK risk and compliance function. This is a permanent role requiring strong experience across enterprise risk, regulatory compliance, and governance frameworks, with responsibility for holding SMF4 (Chief Risk Officer) and SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all risk and compliance frameworks across the bank.
- Hold SMF4 and SMF16 functions, subject to FCA/PRA approval.
- Manage regulatory relationships (FCA, PRA) and oversee key submissions (ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Plan).
- Build and maintain a compliance culture across all business lines.
- Report directly to the CEO and Board.
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years\’ experience in risk and/or compliance within banking (small or international bank background preferred).
- Prior or eligible SMF4/SMF16 holder.
- Strong knowledge of UK banking regulation, financial crime compliance, and operational risk.
- Confident advising and presenting at Board level.
- Hands-on leadership style.
