Assistant Accountant

Job summary:

As an Assistant Accountant working within our Volkswagen Division Accounting Centre, you will ensure the accurate processing, recording and completion of all accounts information as required by the Accountants, doing so in line with all required deadlines and

JCT600 procedures.

This role will be based in Leeds LS110DL due to relocation of offices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all accounting and administrative tasks within area of responsibility are carried out in line with company procedures.
  • The accurate and complete processing in all accounts matters.
  • Ensuring that all monies received and payments made are properly controlled, accounted for and allocated to the correct customer or supplier accounts.
  • Dealing with all queries in relation to customer receipts both promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensuring that incoming customer accounts queries and disputes are dealt with expeditiously.
  • Ensure that appropriate payment procedures are operated within agreed timescales.
  • Correctly analysing and recording cheque and cash payments plus direct debit and other outgoings, recording and analysing these for posting to the nominal ledger.
  • Correctly analysing VAT on all purchase and expenses invoicing, ensuring that documentation received complies with VAT and Taxation requirements.
  • Ensure that accounting and administrative records are accurately maintained and updated daily.
  • Communicating effectively and professionally by telephone or email where required.
  • Qualifications:

  • High levels of numeracy and literacy at a clerical level is essential.
  • A customer centric approach, always striving to deliver service above customer expectations.
  • An understanding of accounting information such as invoices, credit notes, payment methods, receipts and payment advice notes is desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of VAT as associated documentation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of any relevant financial legislation such as money laundering etc. would be desirable.
  • Capable of providing a professional and courteous service to suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to quickly build strong relationships.
  • Motivated by working to targets and under pressure, with strong organisational skills.
