JCS Hi-Torque Ltd is a successful family engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of high-performance worm drive hose clips and P-clips. We pride ourselves on being self-sufficient with all production processes, tooling design and manufacture, and special purpose machine builds being carried out under our control at our manufacturing facility in Sudbury.
We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, quality driven individual to join our highly skilled team. Working as a member of our component department you will be responsible for the production of cold formed, pressed and stamped components ready for assembly into our world leading products.
Applicants must have prior experience setting and operating production machinery, preferably within a similar environment, have an excellent mechanical aptitude and be highly proficient at problem solving.
THE ROLE- To set, operate, maintain, and repair various automatic and manual metal forming machines (e.g. heading, thread rolling, power presses).
- Quality inspection of produced parts using micrometres, verniers and gauging.
- Working from Engineering drawings to BS / ISO standards.
- To investigate, solve, and implement solutions to production and machine problems.
- To transport parts and materials using manual and powered lifting equipment.
- To provide cover for other departments as required.
- Experience of setting and operating metal forming machinery.
- Experience of any of the following processes would be desirable: Cold Heading, Thread Rolling (Flat dies), Power Presses (Progression press tooling), Multi-spindle machines (BSA / Wickman).
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (ideally BTEC level 3) or suitable apprenticeship, but a long-proven track record could also suffice.
- Ability to understand and work to Engineering drawings.
- Excellent mechanical problem solving.
- Good team player.
- Good organisational skills and methodical thinker.
- Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to accuracy and detail and quality driven.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend written instructions and have basic arithmetic skills.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 20kg occasionally and a negligible amount constantly at a minimum of 10 hours per work shift.
