JCOS is recruiting two experienced, electrically-biased E&I Technicians to support a growing portfolio of industrial projects across the South West of the UK. The role has a strong electrical foundation, with instrumentation forming an integral part of the work. Successful candidates will be expected to operate confidently across both electrical and instrumentation disciplines when delivering industrial control and automation projects within a professional and supportive engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Electrical installation, fault-finding, testing, and maintenance on industrial plant and control systems.
- Termination, glanding, and testing of power, control, and instrumentation cabling.
- Working with PLC / DCS panels, MCCs, and associated instrumentation and field devices.
- Loop checking, commissioning support, and functional testing of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, I/O schedules, and AutoCAD layouts.
- Diagnosing and rectifying electrical, electronic, and instrumentation faults using technical documentation.
- Supporting the installation and upgrade of control and instrumentation systems.
- Maintaining accurate records of testing, commissioning, modifications, and maintenance activities.
- Liaising with project engineers, supervisors, and site teams to deliver work safely and efficiently.
- Demonstrating a proactive, professional attitude with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical or E&I Engineering.
- CompEx (EX01EX04).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- HNC / HND in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
- SC Clearance.
- Experience in hazardous area environments (ATEX / DSEAR).
- Strong communication skills and a professional, safety-focused attitude.
