We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance & Site Services / Facilities Group Leader to oversee all maintenance operations, statutory compliance, and facilities performance at our Wrexham site. In this hands-on leadership role, you will take full ownership of the site’s maintenance strategy, engineering delivery, facilities management, and compliance frameworks, ensuring the site remains safe, efficient, compliant, and fully aligned to business needs.
You will lead a team of skilled technicians and contractors, combining strong technical expertise with effective team leadership to deliver planned and reactive maintenance to the highest standards. A key part of the role involves driving continuous improvement, enhancing equipment reliability, and ensuring maintenance and facilities activities support wider operational objectives.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Team Leadership & Management
- Leading, coaching, and developing the maintenance, facilities, and site services teams
- Managing daily workload allocation, team performance, and training requirements
- Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring active engagement in EHS initiatives
- Maintenance & Engineering Delivery
- Overseeing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability
- Managing responses to breakdowns, prioritising actions to minimise downtime
- Ensuring all maintenance work is carried out safely and meets quality and regulatory standards
- Facilities & Site Services
- Managing site infrastructure, including utilities, buildings, HVAC, water systems, and grounds
- Ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (PUWER, LOLER, LEV, fire systems, environmental legislation, etc.)
- Coordinating contractors and external providers, ensuring safe and high-quality work in line with the JCB SheAssure programme
- Continuous Improvement
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and site performance
- Driving lean principles and delivering cost-effective maintenance and facilities improvements
- Supporting capital projects and wider site development activity
- Budgeting & Administration
- Managing and forecasting maintenance and facilities budgets
- Maintaining accurate documentation, compliance records, and audit-ready systems
- Reporting key performance indicators including downtime, PPM completion, response times, and utility usage
This will be suited to you if…
- You have proven experience within maintenance, facilities, or engineering leadership roles
- You bring a strong technical background (mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled)
- You have an excellent understanding of health & safety legislation and maintenance compliance requirements
- You are confident managing contractors and operating permit-to-work systems
- You are highly organised with strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach
- You communicate effectively and build strong cross-functional relationships
- You hold a qualification in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (desirable)
