About the role:
As a result of growing demands for our award-winning range of Generators, BESS & Power Distribution systems, we are seeking a Design Manager to join our team. The post will suit an individual looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of off highway vehicle, Power Generation design and development. You'll play a key role in designing & delivering the next generation power products using the latest Diesel, Hydrogen, Battery Electric & Power Distribution technologies.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Manage, lead, and provide clear direction to your team for all mechanical NPIP & CPS activities
- Guide the design team through concept to production release phases utilising 1D and CAE tools to pragmatically inform the design process
- Support any technical issues faced by the team throughout the product development process
- Responsible for effective drawing release both from technical sign off and project delivery perspective
- Review, critique and advise on system designs, DFMEA’s, DVP’s. Conduct technical reviews with key stakeholders & support Engineering Sign off
- Support project gate deliverables as part of the New Product Introduction Process
- Support / generate development plans for your team, undertake performance appraisals, and provide guidance and mentorship to promote high performance within your team
- Working closely with our Electrical and Test & Development teams to ensure a smooth integration in the products
- Managing the cost of components and assemblies
- To work and develop relationships with Project, Quality, Manufacturing & Purchasing teams to deliver NPI requirements and help resolve production / supply chain challenges
This will be suited to you if:
- You have a positive can-do attitude and ability to drive projects forward
- You have relevant experience and can work independently, applying engineering first principles to develop robust solutions
- You hold a qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, with strong attention to detail and a data-driven mindset
- You're confident working under pressure, managing deadlines, and planning work effectively
- You can communicate clearly and concisely across all levels
- You have experience working with a 3D CAD package (Siemens NX preferred)
- Have working knowledge / experience of one or more of the below areas: Engine installations, Cooling Systems, Air management, Fabrications, Water Ingress / sealing systems and Tooled steel & non steel manufacturing methods
