About the role:
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team. As a key member of the Business Unit Finance function, you will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to provide accurate financial information, support business decision-making and help drive sustained profitable growth. Acting as a trusted finance partner to operational and support teams, you will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate reporting, forecasting and budgeting activities in line with Group Finance requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, challenging existing processes and driving continuous improvement. The role offers significant exposure across the business and excellent opportunities for future development.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Preparing monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting in line with the Group Accounting Calendar.
- Completing key balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Analysing actual performance against forecasts and budgets, identifying key variances and trends.
- Producing detailed financial commentary and performance updates for business management teams.
- Leading the monthly forecasting process and maintaining a rolling 12-month forecast in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Coordinating the annual budgeting process, ensuring robust financial plans are developed across the business.
- Partnering with operational and support teams to provide financial insight and support commercial decision-making.
- Supporting cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the business.
- Driving improvements in financial processes, controls and reporting efficiencies.
- Managing and supporting a team of five, providing guidance, development and day-to-day leadership.
This will be suited to you if…
- You’re a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- You have experience in a similar finance role, ideally within a fast-paced business environment.
- You possess strong Excel skills and are confident working with large volumes of financial data.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems would be beneficial.
- You have strong analytical skills and can interpret financial information to support business decision-making.
- You’re highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- You have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
- You’re confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- You’re proactive and enjoy challenging the status quo, identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
- You have experience leading, developing or mentoring team members and enjoy supporting the growth of others.
