The Opportunity – Telematics Senior Engineer
About the role
Working Pattern: Full-time, on-site, five days per week.
We are looking for a skilled and innovative Telematics Senior Engineer to join JCB's Live Link team, the driving force behind the uptime and connectivity of more than 500,000 machines operating around the world.
As part of a team responsible for JCB’s industry-leading connected machine platform, you will play a key role in the development, integration and validation of telematics solutions that help customers improve machine performance, efficiency, sustainability and safety.
Working at the intersection of machine architecture, connectivity and Io T technologies, you will collaborate with engineering teams across hardware, software and product development to deliver robust and reliable telematics solutions.

What does this role involve day to day?
- Leading the integration of telematics systems into JCB machine platforms, ensuring compatibility, performance and reliability.
- Working closely with software, hardware and design engineering teams to develop and implement connected vehicle solutions.
- Defining and documenting telematics system requirements, specifications and interface requirements.
- Conducting system testing and validation activities to ensure compliance with performance, reliability and security standards.
- Investigating and resolving telematics integration issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
Supporting the development and enhancement of JCB Live Link and other connected machine technologies.
- Analysing telematics data to identify trends, diagnose issues and improve machine performance.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across Engineering, Product Development and Service teams to deliver innovative telematics solutions.
- Supporting the adoption of new connectivity, Io T and digital technologies across JCB's product range.
- Contributing to continuous improvement activities and future telematics product development initiatives.
- This will be suited to you if…
- You have a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Vehicle Electronics or a related engineering discipline.
- You have experience working with telematics hardware, Io T devices or connected vehicle technologies.
- You have knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, MQTT, Modbus or similar technologies.
- You’re a strong problem solver with experience diagnosing technical issues and identifying effective solutions.
- You can confidently analyse data and use insights to support engineering decisions and product improvements.
- You have experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- You have an understanding of software development principles, embedded systems or firmware integration.
- You’re passionate about connected technologies and using data to improve customer experience and machine performance.
- Experience with cloud-based Io T platforms, data analytics tools, SQL, Python or MATLAB would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture, web platforms, APIs, wireless communications or predictive maintenance technologies would be beneficial.
