The Opportunity – Telematics Product Owner – JCB LiveLink

The LiveLink team sits at the heart of JCB’s connected technology strategy, supporting the uptime and performance of a global fleet of more than 600,000 connected machines. JCB LiveLink is a cloud based telematics platform that enables customers to monitor machine performance, safety, sustainability, and utilisation across JCB equipment, mixed fleets, construction projects, and agricultural operations.

As the Telematics Product Owner – JCB LiveLink, you will own and evolve key product capabilities within this platform. You’ll be responsible for shaping the product roadmap, defining and prioritising features, and translating customer and business needs into clear, deliverable requirements. Working closely with engineering and cross functional teams, you will help deliver high value telematics solutions at scale.

What does this role involve day to day?

  • Product Ownership & Backlog Management
    • Own and manage the LiveLink product backlog, prioritising work based on customer value, business impact, and technical dependencies
    • Define epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria to support agile delivery teams
    • Act as the primary decision maker for scope, priority, and trade offs during delivery
  • Customer & Business Requirements
    • Translate customer, dealer, service, and internal stakeholder needs into clear and actionable product requirements
    • Balance short term delivery with long term platform evolution
    • Champion user experience across web, mobile, and data driven telematics features
  • Cross Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with software engineering, data, UX, hardware, and service teams
    • Collaborate with commercial, aftersales, and digital teams to align product outcomes with wider business goals
    • Support alignment with third party partners and technology providers where required
  • Delivery & Continuous Improvement
    • Actively participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
    • Accept completed work against agreed acceptance criteria
    • Use live data, usage metrics, and customer feedback to drive continuous product improvement
  • Governance, Security & Compliance
    • Ensure telematics capabilities align with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements
    • Support release planning, documentation, and product readiness activities

This will be suited to you if…

  • You have proven experience as a Product Owner within software, digital, or data‑driven product environments
  • You’re confident defining and prioritising requirements for complex platforms at scale
  • You have a good understanding of telematics, IoT, connected machinery, or data‑based systems
  • You’re comfortable working with real‑time and historical data to inform decisions and drive value
  • You communicate effectively and can influence both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • You take a data‑driven approach to prioritisation and are comfortable making informed trade‑offs
  • You’re passionate about connected technology and using insights to improve machine uptime and customer outcomes
  • You enjoy operating at the intersection of business, technology, and user experience
  • You’re collaborative, adaptable, and motivated by delivering measurable impact

Desirable experience includes:

  • Exposure to construction equipment, automotive, agriculture, or fleet‑based industries
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, and scalable data architectures
  • Experience working with web or mobile applications
  • Product Owner certification (PSPO, CSPO, or equivalent)
  • Experience within regulated or safety‑critical environments
