Role Overview
We’re looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to join our Group Manufacturing team at JCB, playing a key role in developing and strengthening our global supply base.
Reporting directly to the Senior Supplier Development Engineer, the role is responsible for working with production component and critical indirect suppliers to sustain a level of operational performance that satisfies business expectations.
Responsibilities
- Support delivery of the Group Quality Vision, focusing on incoming material quality targets and overall supplier performance.
- Drive improvement in supplier Quality & Warranty performance through quality clinics.
- Lead and deliver closure on all escalated supplier Quality and Warranty concerns.
- Work with the critical suppliers to ensure their capability is proven and action plans are all in place.
- Manage and resolve escalated supplier delivery and capacity concerns, ensuring sustainable and satisfactory outcomes.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with supplier performance to protect business continuity.
- Conduct onboarding, quality and category process audits to identify and mitigate risk and ensure compliance to JCB standards.
- Lead the Launch Readiness activity to ensure that an appropriate programme is in place, executed and reported.
- Support machine specific improvement programme that supports Quality objectives and closes current product PCMs.
Qualifications
- You have significant experience in supplier development, manufacturing, engineering or quality within a global organisation.
- You have strong knowledge of Total Quality Management, QMS and auditing processes.
- You’re highly experienced in APQP, PPAP and New Product Introduction processes.
- You have a solid understanding of Lean manufacturing systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- You’re confident applying structured problem solving techniques such as 8D.
- You have experience assessing supplier capacity and capability in a production environment.
- You hold a degree (or equivalent) in engineering, manufacturing or a related discipline.
- You’re a strong communicator, able to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- You’re proactive, self‑motivated and take ownership of delivering measurable results.
