About the role:
This exciting opportunity is based at JCB Power Systems, our dedicated engine development centre in Foston, Derbyshire. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll be joining a passionate and innovative team at the forefront of powertrain technology, including cutting-edge developments in hydrogen and combustion engines. With a focus on engineering excellence and sustainability, this role offers the chance to make a real impact as we drive forward our mission to build a cleaner, more efficient future.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Solve a range of engineering problems from new concept design to current product issue resolution
- Lead the definition of detailed models, full engine assemblies, and supporting design documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and support ICE platforms (including Hydrogen), taking designs from concept to production
- Collaborate with internal customers to integrate engine solutions into heavy-duty products
- Use CAD (Siemens NX preferred) to produce and validate designs with supporting technical documentation
- Apply and check GD&T standards and ensure design accuracy
- Conduct benchmarking to inform and improve design effectiveness
This will be suited to you if…
- You have relevant experience and can work independently, applying engineering first principles to develop robust solutions
- You hold a degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, with strong attention to detail and a data-driven mindset
- You're confident working under pressure, managing deadlines, and planning work effectively
- You communicate clearly and concisely across all levels
- You have a practical understanding of ICE operating principles and mechanical engineering manufacturing processes
- You're highly skilled in producing drawings, models, and working with assemblies (Siemens NX preferred)
- You have experience with FEA (advantageous)
