The Opportunity – Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager

About the role: As a Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager, you will lead and manage our Procurement and Planning teams to deliver industry-leading off-the-shelf parts availability. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, optimizing supply chain processes, and maintaining strong supplier relationships to meet customer demand efficiently and cost-effectively.

What does this role involve day to day?

  • Lead and mentor teams: Manage and develop the Procurement and Planning teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure parts availability: Drive effective forecasting, inventory management, material scheduling, and supplier coordination.
  • Develop procurement strategy: Implement Aftermarket procurement strategies that deliver cost savings, quality assurance, and timely supply.
  • Plan and forecast: Collaborate with Inventory Manager on demand planning and inventory control aligned with business goals.
  • Manage suppliers: Build strong supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance for reliability and compliance.
  • Improve processes: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
  • Ensure compliance: Adhere to company policies, customs laws, and regulatory requirements for imports/exports across UK, EU, and ROW markets.
  • Report and analyze: Provide insights on Planning & Procurement performance and availability metrics to senior management.
  • Champion systems: Drive effective use of planning systems (SAP essential; Syncron desirable) and ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with Customer Support, Logistics, Quality, and Finance teams to resolve challenges and support strategic initiatives.
