About the role:
This exciting opportunity is based at JCB Power Systems and is open to engineers at various levels, from Engineer to Senior Engineer. This role offers the chance to lead cutting-edge calibration activities for internal combustion engines and aftertreatment systems. You’ll play a key role in shaping the performance and compliance of JCB’s off-highway and heavy-duty engine platforms, working closely with cross-functional teams and Tier I suppliers to deliver robust, emissions-compliant solutions.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Lead calibration activities for internal combustion engines and aftertreatment systems, with a focus on off-highway, heavy-duty, or automotive applications.
- Develop and manage test plans to meet project timelines and technical objectives.
- Lead a team of base engine and aftertreatment calibration engineers.
- Present development status updates to senior management.
- Oversee hardware development of emissions-critical components, including combustion systems, fuel injection, air handling (turbochargers, EGR), and aftertreatment systems (NOx, PM/PN).
- Develop and release calibrations for engine performance, emissions, aftertreatment control (deNOx, DPF), and diagnostics.
- Apply relevant emissions legislation to hardware and calibration strategies.
- Manage work packages within the JCB NPIP process.
- Coordinate test bed and machine calibration activities, including climatic testing, to meet emissions and performance targets.
This will be suited to you if
- You have a strong background in internal combustion engine calibration and emissions systems.
- You have experience leading technical teams and managing complex calibration projects.
- You’re confident working with Tier I engine management systems, model-based control, and regulatory requirements.
- You’re comfortable with both hands-on calibration and strategic planning.
- You’re passionate about delivering robust, compliant, and high-performance engine solutions.
