We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join the Compact Products division at JCB. In this role, you will take technical ownership of systems and components across our compact excavator range, supporting both new product introduction (NPI) programmes and continuous improvement activities. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams across the UK and our global sites, ensuring designs are robust, cost‑effective, and delivered to the highest standard.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Designing parts, systems, and assemblies using NX and PLM software.
- Creating, reviewing, and releasing detailed drawings in line with GD&T standards.
- Providing hands‑on build support in the XP Workshops to resolve issues during prototype and production builds.
- Managing cost, ePCMs, and engineering changes for your system or machine area.
- Collaborating with global teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
- Supporting NPI project milestones, delivering designs on time and in line with programme requirements.
- Applying working knowledge of compact excavators to ensure high levels of performance, durability, and user experience.
This will be suited to you if…
- You hold an Engineering Degree (essential).
- You have a strong understanding of JCB CAD and PLM systems (preferred).
- You have experience working within New Product Introduction (NPI) environments (preferred).
- You bring working knowledge of excavator products and their key systems (preferred).
- You are confident designing complex components and assemblies within NX.
- You can work effectively as part of a global, cross‑functional team.
- You are comfortable supporting physical builds on-site and engaging directly with workshop teams.
- You enjoy taking ownership, solving technical challenges, and driving continuous improvement.
