About the role
As the Group Health, Safety, and Environment Advisor, you\’ll play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance across the business. You’ll be instrumental in driving continuous improvement, supporting risk management, and helping shape the future of HS&E practices across the Group. Reporting to the Group Health and Safety Director.
This is a dynamic and influential position that requires strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills. You’ll work closely with managers, coordinators, and senior HS&E colleagues to deliver impactful change and maintain high standards of safety and environmental performance.
What does the role involve day to day?
- Ensuring JCB HS&E Safety Systems and databases are working effectively
- Enabling effective risk management strategies, ensuring risk reduction measures are implemented and emergency preparedness is in place
- Ensuring compliance with HS&E legislation, JCB policies, and international standards
- Monitoring performance trends and communicating improvement objectives for managers to action
- Developing and delivering a risk-based assurance plan across the business and supporting other areas as needed
- Identifying HS&E training needs and delivering appropriate training, supported by HS&E Coordinators where applicable
- Investigating and reporting all HS&E incidents, near misses, and hazard observations, ensuring follow-up actions are completed
- Advising management on cultural change initiatives and supporting strong HS&E governance
- Collaborating with senior HS&E colleagues and business leaders to shape priorities and strategic actions

- You hold a NEBOSH certificate, relevant degree, or equivalent
- You bring relevant experience in HS&E and are confident using digital tools and systems
- You\’re enthusiastic, committed, and passionate about driving continual improvement and best practice in HS&E
- You can represent the business professionally with internal and external stakeholders, with support from senior colleagues where needed
- You\’re influential among peers and middle managers, and open to developing your ability to influence at senior levels
