The Opportunity – Engineering Systems Support Engineer
The Engineering Systems Team, within Group IT, are responsible for ensuring that JCB has the correct software applications to support our Engineering Teams deliver the scheduled programs through to completion.
The Engineering Systems Support Engineer role, within Group IT, is a critical function within the JCB business. It is the controller of all Global Engineering Software at the point of use.
You are the first point of contact for global application support for Teamcenter (RAC and AWC), NX, Altair, Doors, Zuken, Automation Studio, Visualisation, etc.
You will manage the Engineering application deployments and maintenance for JCB globally. The Engineering application development, server support and monitoring are critical to the business, as JCB has fully globalised the Engineering applications.
You will work with the Global Engineering Systems Team, IT colleagues, internal stakeholders and third parties to deliver the required Engineering Software support, development, configuration and upgrades.
You will play a crucial role within the Engineering Systems Team, who have resolved over 8,000 support calls in the last 12 months. You will plan and manage your activities to deliver new projects as well as business as usual support of applications in this varied role. The role gives the opportunity to develop and gain exposure on a global scale.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Day-to-day running and monitoring of Engineering Systems – generate reports, analyse and interpret application performance, identify potential system improvements and close out identified problems.
- Ability to fault find to root cause using industry recognised methods and techniques.
- Identification, configuration and deployment of new functionality, applications and upgrades of Engineering Software to the global engineering teams.
- Management and support of the applications shared on the Group Engineering Application website.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for the Engineering applications.
- Provide support to the Infrastructure Team on Engineering Systems server infrastructure, processes, scheduled tasks and application monitoring.
- Create, Manage and Test SCCM packages associated with the Engineering applications.
- Monitor and report on licensing, account access and use across the Engineering applications.
- Gather requirements and justification for system development and support for the Engineering applications.
- Participate, coordinate and document existing and future Engineering applications through testing programs to generate justification and deliver project sign-off with the Engineering Leaders.
This will be suited to you if…
- You have a Degree in IT or an Engineering discipline.
- You have 5 years’ experience of Engineering Systems support.
- You can attain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
- You have a technical hands-on background with Application and/or Hardware support.
- You are a keen, self-starter with aptitude to learn and be a great team player.
It would be further advantageous if you have Siemens Teamcenter experience in some applications such as Classification / Query Builder / Preference Management / AWC / Tc Reporting & Analytics, but training would be available for this and the other applications and disciplines
