About the role: As a member of the fast-paced and highly motivated operational purchasing team, you will be responsible for an exciting and varied portfolio of suppliers, covering several key commodity areas, ensuring a correct purchasing strategy is in place to efficiently support JCB’s dealers & customers globally.
Availability is critical to JCB’s drive for the industry’s finest customer support; you will be responsible to ensure that parts are sourced considering the total cost of ownership, where you will be challenging suppliers over several fundamental criteria such as: Lead-Times, Cost, Quality, MOQ’s and their Reliability. Working with our Supply Chain team to maintain efficient levels of stock during this challenging time. This role is also accountable for ensuring that the supply base within that category is capable of meeting the quality and delivery expectations of the business.
This role may also include the responsibility of becoming a ‘Lead Buy’ which would include the responsibility of creating category and/or supplier strategies, managing negotiations for the Group, supporting escalations, and ensuring that all Buying Teams are fully aligned and all acting consistently.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Strategy Development & Execution: Responsible for delivery of sourcing strategy for each category area and working with the key stakeholder in executing the projects.
- Supplier Performance & Delivery: Working closely with the NPI, Engineering and Operational teams to ensure that supplier performance is maintained to the required standards.
- Teamwork & Self Development: Integrates with the BU operational and pricing teams and drives personal development.
- Supply Base Management & Coordination: Have a detailed market knowledge of the supply base and ensure that when acting as a ‘Lead Buy’ the suppliers are always communicated to in a consistent manner that is aligned to the overall strategy.
You’ll be required to have an in depth understanding of the supply market to ensure that new parts and/or services are purchased competitively and all opportunities for cost reduction are highlighted and delivered.
This will be suited to you if:
- You are an experienced purchasing professional or have supply chain experience.
- You have experience of leading projects.
- You have experience in supplier negotiation.
- You have conflict resolution ability.
- You have experience of working with cross-functional teams.
- You are able to build constructive relationships with the supply base as well as internal stakeholders.
- A CIPS qualification is desirable, but not essential.
- You’re flexible to travel requirements.
