The Opportunity – Business Summer Placement

Start Date: June 2026 – September 2026
Starting Salary: Circa ÂŁ25,000

Minimum Entry Criteria

You’ll need to be working towards a relevant bachelor or master’s degree at university and on course to achieve 2:1 or above. You’ll be in your 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of university, with a minimum of one further year to complete.
Unfortunately, JCB is unable to offer visa sponsorship or immigration support for its Early Careers Schemes, either now or in the future. This includes individuals currently on sponsored visas.

What does the Business Summer Placement involve day to day?

A Summer Placement at JCB provides the opportunity to gain practical experience in an area of the business that is relevant and tailored towards you. You’ll typically complete one or two project‑based tasks during the placement, working with the Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, HR, or Finance teams. It’s an opportunity to work and develop your communication and team‑working skills and build your network.

You’ll be dedicated, passionate and willing to learn and have relevant university project or work experience. You’ll have the chance to put your skills into practice and apply them to the real‑world environment, working on real business projects.

What comes next?

  • We’ll review applications against the essential criteria, shortlist and send out links to online assessments in November 2025 – January 2026. Keep an eye on your inbox; you’ll hear from us either way.
  • After completing your online assessment, we’ll review it and provide you with an update within a few weeks. If you haven’t completed the assessment, we won’t move your application further (we’ll send reminders).
  • In‑person Assessment Centres will take place from January to April 2026. We’ll send you all the details you need.
  • Following your Assessment Centre, whether you’ve been successful or not, we promise you a call with feedback.
  • If successful, congratulations! We’ll guide you through the onboarding process, which includes a familiarisation day.
  • Welcome to JCB – our Early Careers cohorts ordinarily start in early September.

What’s in it for you?

This is your chance to join a company that’s not only picking up awards for its Early Careers schemes but also opens up long‑term opportunities. On a JCB Early Careers Scheme you’ll join a company known for developing its people and offering a career for life.

Benefits include:

  • 33 days’ holiday
  • Stakeholder pension scheme
  • Optional Private Medical scheme with Bupa
  • Access to onsite gym, in‑house doctor and dentist
  • JCB Rewards Hub discounts at high‑street retailers
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Professional outdoor development programme in the Lake District
  • Networking through the “NextGen” society
