An opportunity to help build, shape and influence a new organisation from the ground up.

I'm looking to speak with exceptional commercial finance leaders about a particularly interesting Head of Finance opportunity with an organisation currently going through a significant period of development and investment.

This isn't a traditional Head of Finance role and it isn't about inheriting an established reporting function.

Instead, you'll join at an important stage in the organisation's development, working alongside the CFO and senior leadership team to help design and deliver some of the commercial and financial frameworks that will underpin its future success.

For someone who enjoys ambiguity, building things and solving complex commercial problems, it's a genuinely interesting opportunity.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll take ownership of a number of strategically important finance and commercial projects.

You'll operate across Finance and the wider organisation, providing the financial thinking, commercial challenge and insight needed to turn strategic objectives into practical, sustainable solutions.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Leading significant strategic investment programmes from financial design through to implementation and ongoing performance.
  • Supporting the development of commercial and pricing strategies.
  • Providing financial leadership and commercial input into major contracts and negotiations.
  • Developing financial models and reporting frameworks to support better commercial decision making.
  • Evaluating investment opportunities and helping determine where capital can deliver the greatest long-term value.
  • Working closely with senior operational and commercial stakeholders to understand performance, identify opportunities and manage risk.
  • Supporting the CFO and leadership team on wider strategic projects as the organisation continues to develop.

What we're looking for

We're interested in commercially minded finance leaders who are comfortable operating beyond the traditional boundaries of Finance.

You’ll ideally be

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with significant post-qualified experience.
  • An experienced commercial finance leader with a strong track record of business partnering.
  • Comfortable working directly with CFO, Executive and senior operational stakeholders.
  • Experienced in financial modelling, investment appraisal and commercially complex projects.
  • Able to take relatively ambiguous business challenges and create structure around them.
  • Comfortable challenging senior stakeholders while building strong relationships across a business.
  • Someone who enjoys creating and improving rather than simply maintaining existing processes.

Experience gained within a complex operational environment such as

FMCG, retail, manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, infrastructure or another large-scale consumer or operational business could be particularly relevant.

Why consider it?

The attraction here is the opportunity to have genuine influence.

Rather than joining an established finance function where the processes and commercial frameworks have already been created, you'll have the opportunity to help shape them.

You'll work directly with senior leadership, influence significant investment decisions and take ownership of projects that will have a lasting impact on how the organisation operates.

It's the type of role that should appeal to someone who wants their next move to be about building something

, rather than simply running what already exists.

The organisation can offer a competitive salary, bonus, excellent benefits and hybrid working, with approximately three days per week based in Milton Keynes.
