The Projects team specialises in the design, supply and installation of technical solutions for performing arts venues such as theatres, arenas and studios, as well as for live events, exhibitions and performance spaces.

The project team, consisting of Design Engineers, Project Managers and Installation Engineers based in West Yorkshire and Dubai, is responsible for delivering projects internationally. Recent and current projects include Aviva Studios (Factory International) in Manchester, the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities in Oxford, the Guggenheim Museum in Abu Dhabi, Sunway Theatre in Kuala Lumpur and North London Collegiate School in Singapore.

OVERALL ROLE PURPOSE:

The Site Fitter supports the Projects team with the safe and effective installation of J&C Joel stage engineering, drapery and associated systems on customer sites. Working under the direction of Project Managers and senior project staff, the role helps ensure installation work is completed safely, professionally and to the required standard.

The role involves working on project sites, assisting with technical site information, installation activities, deliveries and plant, and maintaining clear communication with the project team. The Site Fitter will represent J&C Joel professionally at all times and contribute to the successful delivery of projects in the UK and, where required, internationally.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

Site Installation and Project Support

• Carry out site installation work under the direction of Project Managers and senior project staff, supporting the delivery of projects safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
• Attend site visits where required to obtain technical information, take clear and accurate notes and photographs, and ensure relevant project information is saved within the appropriate project files.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Installation Engineers, apprentices and other site personnel to support the effective delivery of installation works.
• Raise any site issues, delays, technical concerns or other problems promptly with the Project Manager or appropriate senior member of the Projects team.
• Support the wider Projects team with project and installation activities as reasonably required.

Health, Safety and Site Standards

• Carry out all work to the highest standards of health and safety and in accordance with company procedures, site rules and project requirements.
• Use appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment correctly and responsibly.
• Report any health and safety concerns immediately where safe working standards cannot be maintained.
• Maintain a professional, tidy and safe working environment while on customer and project sites.

Site Logistics and Equipment

• Assist with the receipt, movement and checking of project materials and equipment on site and at HQ.
• Ensure delivery notes and other relevant site documentation are returned to the appropriate member of the project team.
• Support the management and return of hired plant and equipment, ensuring the project team is made aware when items are ready for collection.
• Ensure any expenses allocated to a project are submitted in line with the company expenses policy and include the relevant contract number.

Communication and Teamwork

• Communicate with internal and external customers, contractors and colleagues in a clear and professional manner, recognising that you are representing J&C Joel at all times.
• Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager and site team regarding progress, requirements and any issues arising during installation.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and provide practical support to other members of the installation team and apprentices where appropriate.

EXPERIENCE:

• Practical experience within an installation, engineering, construction or similar site-based environment.
• Experience working safely with tools and equipment in a practical environment.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, project information and site requirements.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a site-based team.
• Joinery, mechanical and or electrical experience.
• Experience within stage engineering, theatre, entertainment, events or specialist installation environments.
• Experience working on construction or venue-based project sites.

Additional Information:

The role is site based and will require travel to customer and project locations. Depending on project requirements, this may include work away from home for periods at a time.
