The Opportunity: Working within our Proseal business as our Senior Electrical Design & Compliance Engineer, you will report to the Head of Automation. Your role will be to create, modify and maintain electrical schematic diagrams for packaging machinery. You\\\βll be a technical authority on electrical regulations, ensuring compliance is achieved to suit a global market. You\\\βll source electrical components to meet custom project requirements and to optimise standard machinery.
Responsibilities
- Electrical design, to ensure that safety and functionality goals are met.
- Producing wiring schematic diagrams and ensuring required international regulations are followed.
- Ensuring appropriate test procedures are in place to verify electrical safety and compliance.
- Modelling electrical panel layouts.
- Sourcing components such as sensors, actuators, cables and switchgear.
- Ensuring cables and protection devices are sized correctly.
- Developing supporting documentation.
Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering degree/ HND or equivalent and experience as an electrical design engineer, preferably working for an OEM in the food industry.
- Proficient user of Electrical CAD software, EPLAN ideally.
- Familiarity with PLCs, servo drive systems, AC Inverters. Mitsubishi control gear knowledge a bonus.
- Experience with CE marking; the Machinery, the Low Voltage and the EMC Directives.
- Familiarity with UL, CSA and NFPA electrical regulations.
- IET 18th Edition.
- Knowledge of industrial wiring practices including EMC noise-reduction techniques, cable sizing, overcurrent device selection.
- Familiarity with Functional Safety, ISO EN 13849-1.
Travel & Location
- Your place of work will be onsite in Macclesfield, but the role may require some travel up to 5% (occasional trips to suppliers and very occasionally to customers).
