CNC Programmer

Proseal UK Ltd designs and manufactures high quality tray sealing and conveying systems for the food industry, with manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America, and Australia. Having been established for over 20 years, demand for the Proseal product is growing, and we are responsible for developing many plastic-based alternatives for preserving the life of and carrying food safely. Proseal formed in 1998 and is recognised as a leading manufacturer of tray sealing machinery and tooling in the UK, with international presence and distributors in Ireland, Holland, Spain, Canada, South America, and Dubai.

Shift Pattern / Working Hours

Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day. A total of 40 hours per week.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimise CNC programs offline using CAM software (e.g., FeatureCAM, Mastercam, Siemens NX, Fusion 360, or similar).
• Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications to generate accurate toolpaths.
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and machining strategies for various materials and components.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and design teams to ensure manufacturability and process efficiency.
• Simulate and verify CNC programs to detect and correct potential issues before production.
• Maintain and update program libraries and documentation.
• Provide technical support to CNC machinists during setup and production runs.
• Operate machines when required, including running trials or supporting production as needed.
• Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees and report any shortcomings, promoting the use of BBSO (Behaviour-based safety observation) and near-miss reporting.
• Actively promote a safe working environment and empower staff to report and act, adopting the stop work authority process.
• Maintain a good understanding of the Proseal product range and stay up to date with modifications and improvements.
• Use Microsoft Office to update plans and select materials to order or from available stock.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in CNC programming, preferably in a precision engineering or high-spec manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAM software and understanding of G-code and CNC machine operations.
• Strong knowledge of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with ISO standards and quality control processes is a plus.

Preferred Education and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in CNC programming, with a focus on offline programming.
