As a CNC maintenance technician, you will be required to carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding on CNC milling and turning machines, as well as carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance. We are looking for somebody with a positive attitude, who is aware of the high standards needed to keep our manufacturing department operational.
Responsibilities
- Servicing our CNC machines periodically with the creation of a preventative maintenance plan.
- Carry out reactive repairs on all machine breakdowns in a timely manner to minimise disruption to manufacturing.
- Help set and work to a budget to ensure efficiency and cost‑effective repairs.
- Liaise with external suppliers to improve lead times and costs.
- Ensure the safety of all employees on site, reporting shortcomings and being proactive with BBSO (Behaviour‑based safety observation) and near‑miss reporting.
- Actively promote a safe working environment, empowering staff to report and act, and adopting the stop‑work authority process.
- Support training and development needs of individuals as required by supervisors and management.
- Enable effective communication between management, supervisors, and operators.
- Suggest and support the implementation of RCI initiatives.
- Promote and maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with company policies.
- Manage all relevant documentation while ensuring compliance with up‑to‑date legislation and regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of how CNC machines operate, enabling fault finding and practical repairs.
- Time served or apprentice‑trained mechanical/maintenance engineer; electrical knowledge is advantageous.
- Experience in machine tool servicing, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Excellent diagnostic skills and ability to deliver practical engineering solutions.
- Good familiarity with multi‑axis, metal‑cutting machinery.
- Strong communication skills, effectively informing the wider team on technical matters, both verbally and in writing. People‑centric.
- Computer literate.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organise own workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels.
