Overview
We are seeking a highly organised, hands-on Operations Manager to lead the Critical Power operations from end to end. This pivotal role oversees the maintenance, preparation, and deployment of high-value power assets — including loadbanks, transformers, generators and power distribution systems. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Depot Engineers, Yard Hands, and Field Service Engineers.
- Manage the maintenance, repair, and testing of critical power equipment.
- Oversee the workshop and depot to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.
- Plan and resource all field service and project activities, ensuring quality, safety, and on-time delivery.
- Coordinate logistics — from equipment preparation and dispatch to site delivery and return.
- Champion Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance with a zero-harm mindset.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Project Management teams for seamless project handovers.
- Drive continuous improvement across operations, safety, and service standards.
What we are looking for
Essential:
- Proven experience in an operational management or senior technical role within critical power, generator, or electrical industries.
- Strong technical understanding of loadbanks, transformers, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a small technical team.
- Outstanding organisational, planning, and logistical coordination abilities.
- A solid grasp of Health & Safety practices in workshop and site environments.
- Full, valid UK driver\’s licence.
Desirable:
- Formal engineering qualification (HNC/HND/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical discipline).
- IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience in a hire or rental environment.
- Commercial awareness and resource planning experience.
