A leading e-commerce platform is looking to onboard an Interim Finance Director for a 12-month period. Previously PE backed, the business has recently been acquired by an internationally renowned corporate, though still operates as a nimble scale-up with innovative DNA. This is an exciting time to join the organisation as it is enjoying a period of significant expansion and transformation: scaling their US offering, implementing new projects and is actively seeking to acquire new brands, with potential for acquisition within the 12-month window. As such, this is a role that offers broad exposure and the opportunity to act as a strategic partner to the CFO.
You will also lead a team of 5 across two brands, coaching them through complex tasks and supporting their professional development. Execution will sit with them and you will handle complex or time-sensitive matters when appropriate.
Due to the wide ranging nature of the role, we are looking for an individual with the following experience:
- Proven FD or Head of Finance experience in e-commerce or D2C - sector fluency from day one is essential. You're immediately comfortable with D2 business model terminology, digital revenue metrics and daily volume tracking.
- Multi-jurisdictional indirect tax experience - hands-on problem-solving across VAT, GST, Sales Tax and Nexus, not just oversight. You've navigated international registrations and resolved cross-border issues in practice.
- Scale-up background - you've operated in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
- A genuine coach and team leader - you have the operational experience to handle complex or time-sensitive matters when appropriate, whilst primarily building your team's capability through mentorship and guidance.
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Data literate - This is a data driven business. You understand data quality and its direct impact on reporting accuracy and BI insights.
- Advantageous: familiarity with Xero and Looker (or a comparable BI tool); experience reporting into a large corporate parent or managing post-acquisition integration; track record on finance operations projects such as payment processor transitions or spend management platform implementations.
Salary: £120,000 + benefits
