The Role
Following continued growth and significant investment, the business is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new customer acquisition and support the next phase of commercial expansion. This is a high-profile hunting role focused on developing strategic relationships, generating new opportunities and securing complex automation projects ranging from £1M to £40M+ with global responsibility for the business unit. The successful individual will work closely with engineering, applications and leadership teams to identify opportunities, develop tailored solutions and convert pipeline into revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and secure new business opportunities across the UK.
  • Develop relationships with engineering, operations, manufacturing and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Create and execute strategic business development plans.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Manage opportunities from initial engagement through to contract award.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop bespoke automation solutions.
  • Deliver customer presentations, proposals and commercial negotiations.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and CRM management.
  • Drive long-term account growth and customer partnerships.

Requirements
We are seeking an ambitious, commercially driven sales professional with a proven ability to win new business within automation, robotics or advanced manufacturing environments. You will possess:

  • 10+ years of experience selling automation, robotics, engineered systems or capital equipment.
  • Demonstrated success securing new logos and developing strategic customer relationships.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and high-value projects.
  • Strong technical credibility with the ability to engage engineers and operational teams.
  • Commercial confidence when interacting with senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
  • A structured and proactive approach to business development.
  • Background in Custom Automation, Robotics Integration, Special Purpose Machinery, Packaging Automation, Advanced Manufacturing Systems, Industrial Automation or Systems Integration.
  • Experience within Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Consumer Products or other advanced manufacturing sectors would be advantageous.
  • Hunter mentality, Highly competitive and Self-motivated.
  • Commercially astute and Relationship-driven with a Strong work ethic.
