The predicted salary is between 45000 - 55000 € per year.
You will be responsible for the management and leadership of local flood risk management projects, primarily for Lead Local Flood Authorities, Local Planning Authorities and clients in wider UK government departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment of flood risk including interpretation of data and modelling outputs
- Liaison with clients including progress meetings, presentations and occasional site visits
- Strategic input to inform local, regional and national flood risk management planning across the UK and Ireland
- Effective project management delivering quality outputs to budget and programme
- Supporting and contributing to bid writing, including technical methodology, cost estimation and client presentations
- Working with local and national teams across JBA

You have a good understanding of the roles and responsibilities within local flood risk management and can accurately assess outputs to inform projects at a detailed and strategic level. Effective communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with stakeholders across technical and non‑technical backgrounds.
Qualifications and Experience
Do you have experience in local flood risk management, either from within local government or working alongside? Have you led or contributed to flood investigations, development and strategic planning, sustainable drainage and Property Flood Resilience (PFR)? We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Consultant ready to lead innovative flood risk and water management projects. Based in Skipton, you will join JBA Consulting's established and growing water management teams. Environmental or physical science related qualification, degree or equivalent is required together with either chartership with a relevant professional body or commitment to attaining chartership.
- Experienced in local flood risk management schemes and studies
- Knowledge of roles and responsibilities of RMAs including local and national legislation and policy
- Strong communication skills with clients, members of the public and colleagues
- Teamwork, motivation and mentorship to lead a project team
- Capable of managing projects to budget and programme with appropriate quality assurance processes
- Advanced report writing and quality review
Desirable Attributes
- Knowledge of national flood risk planning policy and legislation
- Experience in contract management and tender preparation
- Use of GIS e.g. ArcGIS / QGIS
- Ability to prepare and review Risk Assessments
