We are looking for an experienced technician who is skilled in mechanical pipework draughting and 3D modelling to support the JBAB joint venture.
Responsibilities
- Taking a leading role in all mechanical draughting aspects of projects, from scoping detail through to detailed design. This could be in 2D and/or 3D models.
- Ensuring compliance with client specifications and current regulatory standards.
- Taking the lead on the development of MEICA design templates and libraries to ensure these meet the clients' needs.
- Preparing mechanical schedules and drawings.
- Co‑ordinating with other design disciplines and stakeholders.
- Providing draughting and modelling guidance on mechanical engineering matters to the wider project team.
- Building relationships with clients and wider JBA colleagues.
- Utilising Revit/Plant 3D to develop detailed designs for project deliverables.
- Interpreting engineering designs, specifications, and calculations, translating them into accurate technical outputs.
- Creating and modifying drawings, plans and models for project deliverables across all stages within set time frames.
- Supporting successful project delivery through the production of 3D digital models and the implementation of BIM processes across JBA.
- Producing construction details, schedules, models and visualisations for 2D, 3D & 4D outputs.
- Collaborating with Digital Designers, Engineers and Project Managers to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
- Providing technical support and guidance to junior technicians/apprentices.
- Maintaining and organising project documentation and records in accordance to BS EN ISO 19650.
- Ensuring all work adheres to relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND, Foundation Degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in a MEICA Engineering Technician, Engineering or Digital Design role, with demonstrated senior level responsibilities.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary infrastructure or development projects.
- Experienced user of Autodesk products i.e. AutoCAD, Revit and Plant 3D.
- Understanding of CDE platforms i.e. document control, file sharing and QA processes.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to check and review technical information.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a practical approach to design challenges.
Desirable attributes
- Familiar with developing Process/Piping and Instrumentation diagrams.
- Familiar with multi‑discipline projects.
- Supporting Digital Strategy tasks where necessary with a view to longer‑term commitments.
- Experience using other software such as AutoCAD or Civil/Plant 3D.
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE, EngTech/IEng).
