Main purpose and scope of job:
To manage the day to day operations with the MRF. Follow and comply with all safety and environmental regulations and ensure all staff, visitors and contractors are compliant.

Reports to: Production Manager
Responsible for: MRF operations
Duties and key responsibilities - Health and safety:
- Responsible for his/her personal safety, including others who may be affected by the maintenance department activities.
- Understand and implement the management system standards held by site.
- Understand and implement the company Health and Safety Policy.
- Be aware of their responsibility to comply with all company procedures.
- Assist with Risk Assessments if required on activities within their mechanical remit ensuring that the methods and systems of work are safe.
- Assist with written instructions of work methods outlining potential hazards and precautions, and ensure they are complied with.
- Ensure accident/incident and near-miss reporting procedures are understood and complied with and fully co-operate with accident investigations where appropriate.
- Report any employee for failing to discharge their health and safety and environmental responsibilities.
- Set a personal example regarding health & safety behaviours.
Duties and key responsibilities - Operational:
- To control and operate the MRF safely and efficiently and in line with company procedures and policies, Environmental Permit, Planning Permissions and Contract Specifications.
- To ensure that all site personnel comply with Health and Safety law, Site Management Plans, Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures, Toolbox Talks, Safety Alerts and any other site instructions.
- To ensure that the site is operated in accordance with the Working Plan and contract requirements.
- To ensure that all movements of recyclables and waste are recorded in line with relevant regulations and contract procedures, and all paperwork and information is captured using the company's data system.
- To ensure that all plant and equipment safety checks and inspections are carried and reported in line with J&B's procedures.
- To ensure that staffing levels are maintained and are recorded accurately including the start and finish times of each operative to comply with Fire Regulations.
- To ensure that all site personnel are wearing issued uniforms if applicable.
- To ensure all staff are wearing and using PPE correctly at all times.
- To record and re-issue PPE.
- To prevent any unauthorised person from sorting, disturbing, interfering or removing any waste from site.
- To embrace and look at continually improving operations.
- To provide leadership to the team and direct employees through their daily routine.
- To motivate staff to deliver better results.
- To actively take part in Near Miss reporting and accident/incident investigations.
- To investigate blockages and downtime, improving performance and efficiencies.
- To take part in daily and weekly maintenance.
- To manage the opening and closing of work premises, when required.
- To ensure staff lateness and periods of absence are dealt with as per J&B's procedures.
- Any other reasonable request to meet operational needs.
Experience:
- Previous Management/supervisory role
- Experience in managing a team
