We are a family-run poultry and meat-cutting business based in the heart of Bradford, supplying customers across the wholesale, retail and hospitality sectors. Due to continued growth and increased demand for our products, we are looking to appoint a dedicated Quality Assurance Technician to join our already committed team. The successful candidate will play an important role in sharing the growing work schedule ensuring that all poultry products meet the required quality, food safety and legal standards.

The role will include:

  • Monitoring production processes
  • Carrying out quality checks and internal audits
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting external food safety and assurance audits, including those conducted by the Food Standards Agency and Red Tractor Assurance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and implement all aspects of the HACCP plan and relevant working procedures
  • Monitor critical control points throughout production to ensure food safety and compliance
  • Complete and maintain food safety, quality and production records
  • Assist with the intake of raw materials, including checking product temperatures, labelling and batch codes
  • Monitor staff performance across production lines and butchery areas, ensuring required standards are maintained
  • Carry out routine product temperature checks on production lines and work surfaces
  • Conduct spot checks to ensure QA checks are completed accurately and to the required standard
  • Assist the Head and Deputy Technical Managers with record keeping, best practice and other technical duties
  • Supervise and maintain high standards of staff hygiene and working practices
  • Ensure staff training records and requirements are kept up to date
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and nationalities
  • Assist with in-house staff training and development

Qualifications:

  • Extensive industry experience is required

Skills:

  • Some understanding of food safety, HACCP and quality assurance procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify quality or food safety issues
  • Good knowledge of hygiene standards and safe working practices
  • Ability to monitor production processes and ensure procedures are followed
  • Good record-keeping and organisational skills
  • Ability to carry out temperature, quality and compliance checks accurately
  • Effective communication skills and the confidence to work with staff from different backgrounds and nationalities
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems
  • Ability to maintain a professional approach in a busy production environment
  • Good IT skills, particularly for maintaining records and completing documentation
  • Ability to support and deliver staff training
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing, poultry, meat or quality assurance environment would be advantageous
  • A Food Safety or HACCP qualification would be desirable
