Our client is a manufacturing business that supplies products to some of the UK's largest infrastructure projects. Due to expansion, our client is looking to recruit a Lead Product & Packaging Development Engineer. As a Lead Product Engineer, you'll be delivering new product designs and product improvements that meet customer, business, and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to major product development projects and multiple smaller initiatives.
- Deliver product designs through concept, design, prototyping, testing, and pre-production stages using stage-gate principles.
- Carry out risk assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA, design reviews, and verification testing.
- Ensure designs are process-capable, repeatable, and compliant with industry and customer requirements.
- Support packaging development, including materials selection, specifications, supplier engagement, and testing.
- Work closely with manufacturing to optimise production and packaging solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and workload coordination for engineers and project team members.
- Facilitate cross-functional communication and structured problem-solving.
- Support project planning, risk management, and prioritisation activities.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatable experience.
- Previous experience in Development Lead Engineer or similar technical leadership role.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred).
- Experience with project planning tools and structured problem-solving methods.
- Able to manage projects from inception through to delivery.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
This role is a hybrid role based in Derbyshire - the ability to commute to the Derbyshire office is essential. Benefits include company pension, life assurance, access to onsite facilities, free parking and development opportunities.
