Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Area Sales Manager to drive growth across their Northern region within the construction and infrastructure sectors (water, power & gas).
As a key representative for a leading manufacturer supplying into major water projects—including AMP8 programmes—you will build, maintain, and develop strong commercial relationships with water companies, Tier 1 contractors, and key subcontractors. This role combines strategic account management with hands-on business development and project involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow sales within the defined geographic region (Chester to York and south to Sheffield).
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities with contractors, water companies, and project partners.
- Promote the company’s full product offering to new and existing clients, ensuring alignment with project requirements and specifications.
- Maintain strong, long-term relationships with Tier 1 contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and water companies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all regional customers, delivering high levels of service and technical support.
- Conduct regular site visits, customer meetings, and project reviews to ensure satisfaction and identify upsell or cross-sell opportunities.
- Lead the sales element of bids and tenders, working closely with internal teams (technical, commercial, and operations) to prepare accurate proposals.
- Monitor progress and pipelines for infrastructure programmes.
- Interpret project documentation, specifications, and drawings to ensure correct product selection and design alignment.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a field-based sales role within construction, water infrastructure, or related industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of project-based sales, ideally involving long-cycle projects, frameworks, or capital delivery programmes.
- Experience managing relationships with Tier 1 contractors, subcontractors, or utility providers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a large region independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
In return for the right candidate our client is offering a competitive basic salary of up to £58,000, 15% bonus, company car (hybrid), company pension and the opportunity for development.
