An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially focused Head of Project Delivery to lead the end-to-end delivery of operational services across gas, water, and specialist pipeline engineering activities. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring that operational commitments are translated into safe, compliant, efficient, and profitable delivery. The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight of planning, mobilisation, execution, and project close-out activities across day services, frameworks, major projects, and specialist engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of operational services across multiple workstreams.
  • Ensure all works are delivered safely, compliantly, on time, and within agreed commercial scope.
  • Provide clear accountability for mobilisation, execution, and close-out activities.
  • Maintain consistent delivery standards across regions, projects, and service lines.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for operational and customer delivery issues.
  • Lead short, medium, and long-term operational planning activities.
  • Oversee the effective deployment of technicians, supervisors, plant, and specialist equipment.
  • Drive improvements in utilisation, productivity, and workload visibility.
  • Reduce reactive delivery through structured scheduling and coordinated planning.
  • Work closely with customer support and scheduling teams to ensure accurate job setup and resource planning.
  • Provide governance oversight across frameworks, programmes, and major projects.
  • Ensure effective handover from commercial award and bid stages into operational delivery.
  • Lead programme and delivery review meetings, monitoring progress and performance.
  • Manage delivery risks, variations, recovery plans, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all activities remain aligned with contractual, technical, and commercial requirements.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced operational leader with a strong background in utilities, infrastructure, or pipeline services. They will possess excellent leadership capability, commercial awareness and the ability to manage complex delivery programmes within regulated environments.

Essential Required

  • Senior operational leadership experience within utilities, infrastructure, or pipeline engineering services.
  • Strong understanding of gas and/or water network operations.
  • Experience leading field-based, multi-disciplinary operational teams.
  • Demonstrable experience planning, governing, and delivering work within regulated environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively at site, customer, and executive levels.
