A hybrid working model - 3 days a week in the office. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing organisation undergoing significant digital transformation and infrastructure modernisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in stabilising, securing and evolving the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring systems remain resilient, scalable, and future-ready. This is not a traditional keep the lights on infrastructure role. The Infrastructure Engineer will be instrumental in reducing operational risk, strengthening cyber resilience, supporting ongoing Cyber Essentials Plus compliance and enabling future business growth through modern technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure modernisation and migration projects while maintaining business-as-usual operations
- Support and maintain Cyber Essentials Plus compliance and ongoing security hardening initiatives
- Act as an escalation point for infrastructure-related incidents where required
- Implement and maintain patching, backup, governance, and disaster recovery processes aligned with NCSC frameworks and best practice
- Ensure infrastructure performance, resilience, scalability, and high availability across core systems
- Establish proactive monitoring and preventative maintenance practices
- Identify and implement technologies that deliver measurable business value
- Contribute to digital transformation and cyber resilience strategies
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to deliver reliable and secure IT services.
Experience required:
- Strong experience with Windows Server technologies including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- Experience with Microsoft Intune and Entra
- Proven infrastructure migration experience
- Strong understanding of patch management and vulnerability remediation
- Networking knowledge including firewalls, VLANs, and VPNs
- Experience supporting Cyber Essentials Plus controls and compliance
- Backup and disaster recovery experience
- PowerShell scripting or infrastructure automation skills
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms
- VMware or Hyper-V virtualisation technologies
- Endpoint management tooling including Intune
- Security tooling such as EDR, antivirus, and vulnerability scanning platforms
- Exposure to manufacturing OT or IoT environments
This is a hybrid role based at the company's office in Alfreton. Working hours are Monday-Friday, with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office.
