Jayco are delighted to be supporting an established Charity that supports people with Autism Spectrum Disorders. We are looking to recruit a Senior Support Worker to work in the Forest Hall area.

Hours: 3 x 12.5hr shifts per week (full time). Although not essential, our client is keen to recruit drivers.

Responsibilities:

• Assist individuals with autism in daily activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
• Support clients with their care plans by helping implement therapeutic activities and behavioral strategies tailored to each person's needs.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, observe behavioral changes, and document progress accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
• Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids to safely assist with transfers and movement.
• Engage clients in social activities, community outings, and skill-building exercises to promote socialization and independence.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control procedures.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and support teams to develop and update individualized care plans.
• Observe for signs of distress or health issues such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease, providing immediate support or alerting medical staff as necessary.
• Support clients during emergencies by applying first aid or CPR when needed while following safety guidelines.
• Assist with heavy lifting tasks when required using appropriate techniques or equipment like Hoyer lifts.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards related to home health, hospice care, or assisted living environments.

Skills:

• Proven experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
• Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), medication administration, and patient monitoring.
• Familiarity with care environments such as group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect client privacy and confidentiality.
• Certifications in CPR and First Aid are highly desirable; ongoing training is encouraged.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual techniques.
• Excellent observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing behavioral or health changes promptly.
• Capable of maintaining cleanliness through routine cleaning tasks essential for infection control.
• Compassionate communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing needs within a caregiving environment.
