It will also include the occasional installation and replacement of boilers, heating systems and associated components. This position would suit an experienced engineer who is confident working independently, takes pride in their workmanship and provides a professional service to customers. We are primarily looking for someone with solid servicing, breakdown and maintenance experience. However, we may also consider a less experienced or recently qualified engineer who can demonstrate strong practical ability, the right attitude and clear potential to develop within the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out domestic boiler servicing and landlord gas safety inspections.
- Diagnose and repair faults on boilers, heating systems and associated controls.
- Attend domestic heating and plumbing breakdowns.
- Complete general plumbing maintenance and repairs to hot and cold water systems.
- Install and replace domestic boilers when required.
- Install, alter and upgrade heating systems, cylinders, radiators, valves and controls.
- Complete accurate digital job reports, certification and other required documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers and work safely in accordance with current regulations.
Essential Requirements:
- Current ACS Domestic Gas qualifications.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience in boiler servicing, breakdowns and maintenance is strongly preferred.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience installing domestic boilers and heating systems.
- Good general plumbing knowledge.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach to customer service.
- Ability to work independently, use your own initiative and complete clean, tidy, high-quality work.
Additional Qualifications:
Additional qualifications are not essential, but experience or certification in any of the following would be advantageous: LPG, Commercial Gas, Air Source Heat Pumps, Unvented Hot Water, OFTEC Oil, Water Regulations or electrical fault finding.
Career Development:
We want our engineers to build long-term careers with JAX Plumbing & Heating, and we are committed to supporting continued learning and development. As the company grows, there may be opportunities to diversify into renewable heating and Air Source Heat Pumps, Commercial Gas, Oil, LPG and other specialist areas of plumbing and heating. We will take the time to understand the areas you are interested in and, where possible, support you with further training and recognised qualifications to help broaden your skills. There will also be opportunities for the right person to take on additional responsibility and progress within the company as the business continues to expand.
The kind of engineer we are looking for: Qualifications and technical ability are important, but attitude and professionalism are just as valuable to us. We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work, treats customers and colleagues with respect, communicates clearly and leaves every job clean and tidy. You should be reliable, trustworthy and well organised, with a willingness to continue learning and developing. You will often work independently but should also enjoy being part of a supportive team.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary based on experience, qualifications and skill set.
- Company van and company uniform.
- Company pension.
- 30 days’ annual leave, including Bank Holidays.
- One additional day of annual leave for every completed year of service, up to a maximum of five additional days.
- Ongoing manufacturer and industry training, with opportunities to gain further qualifications.
- A varied workload across servicing, breakdowns, plumbing maintenance and installation, supported by an experienced office team.
- Long-term career development within a growing business.
- An annual summer team social day and whole-team breakfast meetings approximately every six to eight weeks.
