We are working with a leading global media organisation seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their UK Financial Controlling team on an ASAP-start interim contract. This position is inside IR35, requires four days per week in the Waterloo office, and plays a critical role in statutory reporting, audit support, and group consolidation.
This is a highly technical role suited to someone with strong external audit grounding, excellent attention to detail, and confidence preparing statutory financial statements in a complex, multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the annual external audit process, ensuring accurate documentation and timely responses to auditor queries.
- Lead on the preparation and completion of Group consolidated and UK statutory financial statements in line with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including variance analysis, and communicate findings to the Corporate Finance team.
- Act as a key liaison between the Controlling team (both onshore and offshore) and wider business stakeholders including FP&A.
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring accurate journals, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Review monthly balance sheets, cashflows and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare tax computations and liaise with external tax advisors.
- Respond to ad-hoc analysis requests and manage multiple priorities to ensure timely completion.
- Uphold all financial controls, policies and compliance requirements across the reporting cycle.
- Contribute to systems improvement, process optimisation and ongoing finance transformation initiatives.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent), with minimum 3 years PQE.
- Big 4 training strongly preferred.
- Demonstrable experience preparing or auditing statutory financial statements.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including application of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Excellent analytical capability with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong systems and Excel skills, with the ability to work confidently across multiple financial platforms.
- Effective communication skills, able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain complex information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
