An opportunity has opened for a Structural Design Engineer to join a construction and engineering company based in Portishead. The ideal candidate will have a background of designing structural steel to Eurocode (EC3) and will have excellent mechanical engineering principles knowledge like FEA.

The company offers a hybrid working pattern after the initial training period, flexible working hours, 25 days holiday + bank holidays and many other benefits.

Key Skills:
  • Structural Engineering experience specifically in steelwork
  • Experience of design engineering (structural / mechanical)
  • Degree within an Engineering discipline
  • Eurocode (EC3) experience
  • Fabrication experience along with engineering principles
  • AutoCAD experience would be ideal
  • Any FEA or other calculations experience would be a bonus
  • Full UK Driving License
Responsibilities:
  • Design and verification of steelwork equipment and structures
  • See designs from concept through to completion
  • Ensuring that drawings and designs adhere to industry standards such as EC3
  • Verifying other drawings from the engineering department
  • 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD
  • Look over fabrication drawings and checking if tests and compliance are complete
  • Completing FAT procedures and RAMS
  • Occasional site visits to review equipment and structures performance
