Our Client is a bank based in Central London – who are looking to recruit a Database Engineer with at least 5 to 7 years of solid expertise working with SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS.
Responsibilities include:
- Development and delivery of data pipelines (collect, validate and prepare high‑quality data) to automate and streamline processes required by different departments.
- Support existing SSIS ETLs (overnight and intraday), proactively fine‑tune and enhance existing code to increase robustness and error monitoring.
- Support the internal IT department with changes and upgrades to software platforms.
- Convert legacy Hyperion reports to SSRS.
- Analyse issues pertaining to problems or errors raised by in‑house systems, i.e. CORE, SharePoint interface, Equation end‑of‑day cycle.
- Understand business requirements in order to develop and deliver appropriate solutions based on system definition documents.
- Programme in advanced 4GL languages and apply them through the full development life‑cycle.
- Build data pipelines within the SQL environment in SSIS packages, where required, introducing new fields and data types to collate new information in the CORE environment.
- Build tabular models (SSAS) for different business units.
- Build reports based on business requirements using SQL SSRS.
- Integrate with all of the Bank’s sub‑systems using abstraction and connectivity layers, i.e. ODBC, ADO.NET.
- Ensure that the environment runs optimally and meets high‑standard housekeeping procedures.
- Integrate the SharePoint environment and Forms with the Equation system to automate processes, thereby eliminating duplicate entry.
- Utilise web services to integrate cutting‑edge technology into legacy systems such as Equation.
- Provide second and third‑level support for in‑house programmes during the end‑of‑day cycle.
- Analyse and rectify any problems raised in an independent and team scenario.
- Take ownership of a problem and deliver a solution in a timely manner.
- Provide out‑of‑office‑hours support.
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements, including the Bank’s Risk and Compliance policies and procedures, and adhere to these to avoid exposing the Bank to undue risk.
- Report policy or procedure breaches and areas of potential non‑compliance promptly upon identification in accordance with the Bank's Risk and Compliance policies.
- Accurately execute all controls within own area to minimise risk of policy, procedure, and/or regulatory breaches.
- Identify new risks or control gaps within own area and escalates accordingly to your Line Manager and/or Head of Department.
- Complete all annual mandatory regulatory refresher training as per the Bank's training plans and deadlines.
- Proactively seek to complete recommended technical and behavioural competencies training required for your role.
- Act in accordance with the FCA/PRA Code of Conduct.
- Fulfil all prescribed business continuity requirements as set out in the organisational or departmental specific plans or as instructed by the Line Manager/Head of Department.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Degree level qualified or equivalent.
- MS SQL stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) to a high level of proficiency – Essential.
- C# programming / JavaScript programming – Desirable.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Software analysis and design best practice.
- Dimensional modelling, Entity‑Relationship modelling, Normalised modelling.
- Data warehouse design concepts (Inmon, Kimball).
The position is based in Central London and requires you to be in the office for 3 days a week. Please note the Client does NOT provide sponsorship. The salary for this position is in the range £60K – £75K.
