HR Officer – Maternity Cover
Our Client, a bank based in Central London, is seeking a Generalist HR Officer with at least 3 to 4 years experience to cover a maternity role for a 10 to 12 month FTC.
Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Management
- Assist with day‑to‑day HR administration including:
- Recruitment (sourcing, arranging interviews, etc.) for both regulated and non-regulated positions
- On-boarding and off-boarding of staff
- Ensure HR processes are adhered to (e.g., probation reviews, employment reference requests)
- Maintain staff personnel files (physical and digital) up to date and organised
- Process staff benefits and liaise with the bank’s benefits broker
- Process visa for secondees
- Provide assistance and first‑line HR advice to Branch staff, referring to HoD for serious issues
- Organise training and other L&D related plans
- Annual performance management
- Conduct staff surveys, wellbeing and engagement activities
- Assist with production of MI reports for HR data (branch/group HR as required)
- Ensure HR letters are appropriate and accurate (referring to SOPs and applicable policies)
- Ensure branch compliance with UK immigration laws and prevent illegal working
- Assist with data entry for monthly payroll and processing of staff claims (overtime, P11Ds, P60s)
- Provide general administrative support to the Head of HR and Administration
- Support branch operations as needed and other tasks assigned by the General Manager
- Ensure all HR data is accurately labelled and managed per GDPR, internal policies and SOPs
- Data Integrity
- Ensure all data worked on or shared with clients is accurate, complete and maintained to the Bank’s data quality standards
- Handle all data in strict alignment with GDPR principles
- Escalate suspected data breaches or privacy issues to the HOD promptly
- Ensure data sharing requests are authorised by HOD/DPO following GDPR/department SOPs
- Regulatory Compliance
- Comply with FCA Conduct Rules, PRA regulations, bank policies and the Compliance Manual
- Act with integrity and due skill, care and diligence
- Be open and cooperative with the FCA, PRA and other regulators
- Pay due regard to customers and treat them fairly
- Observe proper standards of market conduct
- Deliver good outcomes for retail customers
- Adhere to corporate governance standards applicable to a bank regulated by the PRA and FCA
- Continuously display honesty, professionalism, respect, openness, integrity, competence, capability and financial soundness
- Work with audit teams and provide required information
- Training and Learning & Development
- Complete all mandatory training set by the Bank within deadlines
- Identify relevant training with HOD as needed
- Performance Management
- Accurately log and report absences to meet conduct and performance standards
- Complete assigned annual and ad‑hoc performance reviews per bank procedures
- Report wrongdoing or work‑related concerns to HOD, GM or HR when appropriate
- Quality Assurance Tester
- Complete CET/KRIs within deadlines
- Complete assigned training relating to QAT duties
- Identify and highlight gaps and advise on risk and control areas during testing
- Complete testing per schedule to ensure compliance and coverage
- Maintain evidence of sampling for independent review
Qualifications
- Diploma, Bachelor, Master’s degree or professional qualification in HR, Psychology, Business Administration, Business Management, or CIPD Level 3 (preferred but not essential)
Benefits
Salary: circa £40K per annum, on‑site at the office 5 days per week in Central London.
