The Role In a Nutshell

Own the demand and revenue forecast for a strategically important, high-value product portfolio. You'll turn messy, conflicting data into the single trusted view the business plans against, influencing how revenue and resource get committed across the country. If you love building forecasts that genuinely move commercial decisions, and presenting that story to people who act on it, this is your seat.

The Business

Our client is a large, well-established UK infrastructure and services organisation operating at national scale, in the middle of a significant multi-year investment and growth programme. It's a business that invests heavily in its people, gives you real commercial influence early, and offers a genuine path to grow your forecasting and analytics career across a major, complex operation.

The Role

You'll lead volume and revenue forecasting for a major high-value product portfolio. Day to day you'll produce forecasts of new sales, the existing base and revenue, then explain the movements, trends and risks behind them to the teams who plan resource, manage supply chains and make the big commercial calls.

This is a true analyst-storyteller role. You'll work across sales, finance, commercial, strategy, product and capacity planning, often dealing with contradictory information and using your judgement to extract the real signal from conflicting data. You'll assess how special offers, discounts, bespoke pricing and product substitution shift demand, and you'll be the unbiased, independent voice the business relies on.

What matters is that you're a strong commercial forecaster who can handle large datasets, build robust models, and make the numbers make sense to a room of senior stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to turn data into accurate forecasts
  • Commercial acumen and sound commercial judgement
  • Confidence handling large datasets and complex Excel models without losing attention to detail or the bigger picture
  • Excellent stakeholder skills - able to build relationships, challenge, influence and negotiate to a clear outcome
  • Comfortable extracting key signals from contradictory or incomplete data using your own judgement
  • Able to deliver to tight, sometimes conflicting, deadlines
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent business experience, ideally in a numerate discipline

The following would be an advantage:

  • Business forecasting or demand planning experience
  • Experience using Anaplan
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience presenting data-led insight to senior stakeholders

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead volume and revenue forecasting for a major high-value product portfolio
  • Produce geographic forecasts of orders, completions and revenue using customer insight and statistical analysis
  • Identify, track and explain risks and opportunities, and the progression of major projects against forecast
  • Work with sales and customer teams to build the most accurate possible view of demand
  • Assess the impact of offers, discounts, bespoke pricing and product substitution on demand
  • Present forecasts and analysis, proactively and reactively, to support key commercial decisions
  • Enable sales, finance, commercial, strategy, product and capacity planning teams to use the forecast effectively
  • Drive continuous improvement in forecasting quality and efficiency
  • Provide ad hoc analysis to support business decisions

Other skills required:

  • Commercial Judgement - Able to read the business context behind the numbers and form an independent, defensible point of view
  • Data Storytelling - Turns complex analysis into a clear narrative that senior stakeholders can act on
  • Stakeholder Influence - Builds trust across functions and can challenge and negotiate to a successful conclusion
  • Attention to Detail - Handles large, complex models without errors while keeping sight of the bigger picture
  • Self-Direction - Highly self-motivated, structured and able to deliver under pressure to tight deadlines
