Applications are invited from committed and experienced Registered Learning Disabilities Nurses to join the Therapy & Enabling (Day Service) and Short Breaks team as Band 6 Deputy Manager within the Adult Learning Disabilities Service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
Short Breaks and Emergency care provide 24/7 support within 3 self-contained respite flats for adults with learning disabilities, complex needs, and autism.
Therapy and Enabling, including a drop-in service, runs Monday to Friday and currently has approximately 40 service users. The service aims to provide a wide range of structured activities and therapies.
The team comprises a Manager (Band 7), 2 Deputy Managers (Band 6), and 5 Team Leaders (Band 5). As a leadership team, you will provide practice leadership and deliver excellent person-centred outcomes, supporting a diverse team of HCAs/Band 3 and 4 Support Workers.
As Deputy Manager, supporting the Service Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking the assessment of service users with complex needs.
- Guiding, advising, and directing staff in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Contributing to the recruitment and retention of team members.
- Undertaking professional development reviews and supporting staff with performance issues.
- Acting as a professional role model, promoting high standards of practice and professional values.
- Acting up as necessary in the absence of the manager.
Please note: Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system but applies its own salary scale. The Guernsey Band 6 salary range is £46,152 to £62,310 plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements (36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/Bank Holidays). Annual leave starts at 36 days, up to 42 days, with full credit for NHS or Local Authority service for annual leave and sick leave.

Person requirements:
- Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse with full NMC registration.
- Two years of current or recent post-graduate experience at senior Band 5 or Band 6-equivalent level.
- UK driving licence.
