Applications are invited from dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals or Social Workers to join the Adult Learning Disabilities Community Living service as Band 5 Team Leader on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. Reporting to the Band 6 Deputy Manager, you will provide and oversee the care and support for Service Users with complex Learning Disabilities in their own homes and in the community, leading and motivating the Band 3 and Band 4 Support Workers in your team.
The service users have a variety of both physical and psychological needs and require assistance with daily living tasks and with accessing the wider community. Newly or soon‑to‑qualify Learning Disabilities Nurses looking to start their post‑registration career are welcome to apply. Guernsey provides a comprehensive and high‑quality Health and Social Care service to Adults with Learning Disabilities over 18 across the island.
Location
The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000. It has some of the British Isles' finest and best‑kept beaches, a mild and sunny climate, and an off‑beat, historic harbour town in St. Peter's Port, the island's capital.
Responsibilities
- Provide and oversee the care and support for Service Users with complex Learning Disabilities in their own homes and in the community.
- Lead and motivate the Band 3 and Band 4 Support Workers in your team.
- Assist service users with a variety of physical and psychological needs, daily living tasks, and accessing the wider community.
Person Requirements
- Registered Nurse, AHP or Social Worker with appropriate UK statutory professional registration.
- Current or recent experience supporting people with a Learning Disability and/or Autism.
- Experience in leading and motivating Support Workers.
- Current clean driving licence.
- Personal qualities: reliability, honesty, patience, resilience, motivation and leadership skills.
Benefits
- Higher‑than‑UK salary (Band 5 range: £40,178 to £51,819).
- Annual bonus of £1,747.
- For Registered Nurse applicants: an additional £3,000 bonus on completion of two and four years of service.
- Flat rate 20% income tax.
