Applications are invited from senior A&E Nurses to join the busy Emergency Department team in a split role (50/50) as Band 7 Team Leader and Safeguarding Lead at the major Health facility on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
As Team Leader you will be one of five Band 7 Team Leaders and manage the shift, supervising Band 6, Band 5 and Band 3 staff. As Safeguarding Lead, you will oversee all Safeguarding issues in the department and liaise with internal and external agencies including Adult and Children's Safeguarding, and the Police.
The Hospitals Emergency Department is a small, busy department, treating 19,000 patients per annum from the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, with demand increasing during the holiday season. This is a Consultant-led department; the MDT comprises Doctors, nurses, radiographers, healthcare assistants, porters and reception staff. The St John Emergency Ambulance Service charity operates Guernsey's 24/7 paramedic response and non-emergency patient transport service. You will also take part in the hospital-wide emergency team.
Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scales. The Guernsey Band 7 salary range is £57,635 to £75,789 plus an annual bonus of £1,747 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH. Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.

This unique integrated health service delivers a diverse range of services including diagnosing and treating patients in the island's acute hospital complex, and supporting people within the wider community. Guernsey provides excellent Emergency care, supported by modern equipment and reliant on A&E Nurses recruited to a high standard.
Person requirements:
- Registered Nurse with full NMC registration.
- At least three years current or recent Band 6 UK Emergency Dept experience, including full competency in both adult and paediatric resus.
- Some experience or a strong interest in Safeguarding.
- Completion of a post-graduate A&E qualification.
- Completion of ALS and EPALS.
- Experienced in taking charge of all sections of the department and deputising for the A&E Manager.
- Experienced in supervising and mentoring junior Nurses.
