Applications are invited from suitably committed and experienced senior Social Workers to join the Children in Need Team as Deputy Team Manager on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. The salary range for this post is £69,469 - £78,250 dependant on experience.

Reporting to the Team Manager you will:

  • be responsible for the supervision of the Social Workers and Assistant Social Workers within the team and be accountable for the performance management of those members of the team.
  • assist the Team Manager in the management, development, and leadership of the social work team to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children, young people, and their families.
  • ensure the team delivers high quality services that address need and lead to improved outcomes in a timely manner.
  • deputise for the Team Manager when required.

The Children in Need Team is responsible for undertaking assessments of children and families, developing intervention plans for children in need and supporting children, young people, and their families to achieve positive outcomes including those children subject of Care Requirements in accordance with the Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law 2008.

Person requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current full UK statutory registration.
  • At least five years post-registration UK experience in Children and Families statutory settings.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of theory and legislation that affects young people and their families and of childcare practices relating to children in care.
  • Supervisory or Management experience including deputising for Management in their absence.
  • Be in possession of a clean and current car driving licence; own vehicle required, (mileage expensed at full rate).
